Annual Holiday Open House
Saturday, December 5, 2009
Noon – 3 pm
Admission is FREE! (Donations are always appreciated)
The theme of the decorations this year is MUSIC IN THE MUSEUM. Eight rooms will be decorated around some of the well-known traditional Christmas carols. As a treat for the young and young at heart, Santa will stop by to read The Night Before Christmas. Visit the kitchen to see a demonstration of making sweet meats. Sing, hum, or just tap your toes to the melodies that mark the season!
Don’t miss this Holiday Event!
Holiday Education Program 2009
The Kent-Delord House Museum will hold its annual Holiday Education Program on December 8 -11 and December 15 -18. Times to sign up on these dates are: 9 am, 10:15 am, and 11:30 am. Please, only one class per time slot to allow students to enjoy the program. Cost for this program is $3 per student, and free for teachers, school staff, and two chaperones per class.
The theme this year is “Music in the Museum.” Each room in the museum will be decorated around a traditional Christmas carol. Students will learn about the history of various holiday customs and traditions, especially those that became a staple in the North Country, They will also be participating in hands-on activities to highlight some of those customs.
This is an excellent opportunity for area students to “see” not only the history of their area, but to have fun doing just that. I look forward to your participation.
