We are pleased to let you know that starting this Saturday, June 23, the Museum will be open for tours from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is in addition to our regularly scheduled tours Tuesday through Friday from noon to 4:00 p.m. If you haven’t visited recently, there are many new things for you to see, including our exhibit Something Old, Something New: Heirloom Wedding Dresses from 1832 through Today. The highlight of the exhibit is the dress worn by Frances Henrietta Delord at her wedding to Henry Livingston Webb in the Gold Parlor on August 13, 1832. Also included in the exhibit are a number of beautiful dresses worn by Clinton County brides (and others) during the last 175 years. Many of these gowns have been loaned by our friends at the Clinton County Historical Association. Now is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view these dresses, and we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity.
Another reason to visit in the near future is the chance to preview a new room that will soon be opening to the general public The Servants’ Quarters above the kitchen. Come see where Catherine Dowling, Maggie Shanks, and the rest of the Delord and Hall servants spent their free time. The servants’ quarters is the first new room opened since the 1920s!
