DESCRIPTION:The Kent Delord House Museum will be hosting three 19th Century food tastings and discussions presented by the new Director\, Samantha Williams\, a historian and food lover. The dates for the events are as follows; June 29th\, July 27th\, and August 24th. All of the events will be held from 3 to 4 pm. \nThis is a members only event\, and each event will be limited to twenty members. Every attendee will go home with recipe cards for each of the early 19th century dishes that we taste. Come and watch traditional coal forging on our site. Grab a seat and ask questions as our two new resident blacksmiths demonstrate various metal working techniques. DESCRIPTION:Do you have an interest in history? Consider becoming a docent for the Kent-Delord\nHouse Museum.  We are seeking individuals interested in leading tours and sharing the Delord\nfamily story.  When you open the gate and enter this unique 18 th century treasure\, you literally\nstep back in history. The museum remains one of the oldest houses in Plattsburgh and most of\nwhat you see belonged to the Delord family.  They kept everything and communicated with each\nother through letters for over a century. \nThere will be a docent training on May 11\, 2019\, from 10 a.m. to noon\, at the Museum\non 17 Cumberland Avenue\, Plattsburgh. DESCRIPTION:The Kent Delord House Museum will be holding a Regency Costume Workshop on May 4th\, at 10 am at the museum. Conducted by Sharon Bell\, Costume Society of America member\, the workshop will introduce styles of clothing appropriate for the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration activities\, museum volunteering\, and the Macomb Ball. \nRegistration is $10\, and each participant will receive a list of patterns\, a bibliography of print and online information\, and a list of suggested supply sources. DESCRIPTION:The Kent Delord House Museum is proud to announce the awarding of a grant from The Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership in support of our upcoming Military Muster. The Military Muster will happen in conjunction with the Battle of Plattsburgh event\, on September 14 and 15th. The event will feature an historical encampment\, hands on activities of period trades and crafts\, and educational exhibits. New to the encampment this year we will have coal forge blacksmithing demonstrations.

DESCRIPTION:The Trustees of the Kent-Delord House Museum at 17 Cumberland Ave.\,Plattsburgh\, are pleased to welcome Samantha Williams as the new Director. Samantha began working at the museum on February 12\, 2019\, after the retirement in January of Donald Wickman who served as director the previous five years. \nSamantha has extensive museum experience having coordinated educational programs at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in Vergennes\, Vt. She is also certified to remotely operate an underwater research vehicle in Lake Champlain. Additionally\, Samantha is a qualified blacksmith who enjoys teaching this skill. Samantha is becoming familiar with the three generations of the Delord Family in Plattsburgh\, and planning for the spring reopening of the museum on May 14\, 2019.
